I've recently looked at the "Aspartame & Flying" article in the Tech/Safety pages of this site and it reminded me of a question from a friend at the same gliding school as me.

Every day we take a cool box full of soft drinks out onto the field with us and this one weekend there was Redbull in it.

It is supposed to improve your awarness and keep you awake and in fact, I drink it on long car journeys. In some countries it has been banned because of its caffine levels (apparently over a certain amount of caffine it is regarded as a medicine).

Has anyone seen anything regarding this? If so, where? Or does anyone have their own views on it.

Cheers,
Toby

No harm in flying on it......it may improve your reactions slightly and may give you an energy boost if tired. However, do not drink too much of it as Caffeine is linked with heart palpitations etc.

I find it helps a lot. In fact it has led to allegations of my being a "cheeky f**ker"
