What's the reasoning behind disbanding 20(R) OCU Sqn, only to have same unit re-formed/named as IV(R) Sqn, which was previously a combat unit as IV (AC) Sqn?

Why not just disband IV (AC) and re-assign assets to 20 (R) OCU?

Seems a longwinded way of doing things...

The policy is to badge active units with the oldest number plates.

I think its all about protecting the IV Sqn nameplate since it is one of the oldest and most senior sqns in the world. Keeping IV 'alive' will then make it much easier to transition it from the Harrier OCU into the first RAF JSF sqn in the next few years.

They didn't do it with 6 Sqn, did they?? Then again it was an ex Harrier AOC that did it.

Shock - Horror - Probe!!!

That bloody teddy bear sitting on the cockpit combing is a flight safety hazard 'cause he ain't strapped in, is a loose article hazard and is wearing inappropriate clothing etc. Somebody's head should roll, H&S procedures reviewed, risk assessments pored over etc etc!
