I understand you HAVE to have a current multi IR on your licence before you can commence your first TR. Is the MEP vital also?

Not required, unless it is a requirement of the company you're applying to of course.

No MEP necessary.

Current MEIR might be handy though.... :)

Good luck! :ok:

TR counts for renewal of your IR, so if you are going to do one anyway, rather than pay for both, just do the TR

You need a valid MEIR in order to start your first multi pilot type rating.

The MEP rating does not have to be valid

I think im correct in saying that the TR (unless it is for SPA) gives you a new Multi Pilot aeroplanes IR which is only valid for that TR. If you want to continue to use the IR for private flying then you will have to renew it seperatly from the MPA/IR.

The MEP is not needed its only the IR that is required to start the first TR.

Not correct. You can use your IR for whatever you want - it is not type specific.

Rubbish.

A MPA IR is type specific and confers no rights for SPA IR.

My licence states that my IR is valid for MPA ONLY, so unless I go and renew my IR on a seneca aswell I cannot use it for SPA.

Absolutely correct.

Sorry, you are partially right. It depends whether you IR is restricted to MPA or not.

"If the IR(A) is valid for use in single-pilot operations, the revalidation shall be completed in either multi-pilot operations or single-pilot operations. If the IR(A) is restricted for use in multi-pilot operations only, the revalidation shall be completed in multi-pilot operations"

So, the way I understand this, is that if you have a SPA IR it can be renewed during your MPA IR renewal.
