If the b1/2 licence was issued in france i wouldnt pay you in washers TBH, the only licences worth anything these days are either uk or australian issued

That was a bit unilateral Simone. It's true there are some clowns in Europe with B1/B2 AMLs. There are also a good number of UK B1/B2 chancers also.

You'd know that if you currently worked within a UK MRO.

Im sorry to say that but what you had cited is incorrect
I know a couple of engineers who own a uk issued license b2 / b1 and they know a jack squat about thier job, and i ( im just a trainee without even a license yet ) know much more than them and they've been working for years on the aircraft .
It has nothing to do with wether the license has been issued in france or the uk , it all relies on the person himself, if he likes his job or not, if he gets to grips with it or not.

Wanna agree with Flamebringer. Its not the papers you have but the way you approach your job!

It is a well known fact that certain NAA's on the continent dish out Part-66 AML's like packets of sweets. Some have even granted full B1 and B2 licences on the back on completing a type course. Our dear friends at EASA ensure us there is a level playing field and this type of business does not go on. I think this is the point simonchowder was trying to make. He recruits mechanics and LAE's and will verify that a lot of employers/agencies won't entertain you now unless you have an original UK or AUS issued ticket, many years hands-on and have served a recognised apprenticeship.

146 - I agree there are some UK B1/B2 chancers out there but in my experience they are in the minority compared to some of our brothers from Europe.

Well said Flame. Unfortunately, a few of your countrymen do not earn they're UK AMLs. I suspect the following does not apply to you. I've met a few that have had the privelige of attending AST or BAS on a full time basis by academically acheiving the Part 66 requirements. Great.

However, the practical experience element can be embellished with ease and sadly frequently. I quite clearly remember asking one such AMM-reference-seeking B1/B2 individual to vacate or assist in the embodiment of a 8.33khz VHF mod a few years ago. He would have been most welcome to assist but declined.

It's about the honest application of good standards. So start as you mean to go on.

I understand and share your viewpoint. It's true many more AML holders in other EASA NAAs haven't exactly earnt their licences as req'd but it appears there really is SFA anyone can do about that. I've only recently stopped laughing at a previous ALAE's Techlog article about 1000's of incorrectly issued German LBA AMLs..And their new exciting modular exam invigilator procedures!

There's little me moaning at the SRG for the <30 BA / Virgin AML freebies..
(Not that I'd personally ever forgive them).

Dont shoot the messenger peeps, fact is employers have wised up to the fact not all licences are equal and more and more especially in the current climate are demanding either a UK or aus issued qualification ,the rights and wrongs of that im not interested in and i havent got a axe to grind either as im not a LAE, im merely saying it as is .

Simon

You make it appear as if these employers didn't know what's been going on since 2001! These employers shaped JAR/Part 66 locally with money, meetings and that all important can-do approach (Right John?) .. So given what you've said Simon, as a Recruitment Specialist, In other EASA NAAs there now must be a sizeable population of existing EASA Part 66 AML holders trapped by the actions of their NAAs with limited career mobility - does this apply across Europe now?

I'm intrigued because Singapore and Malaysia only have openly been this selective from what I recall. What EASA AMLs are acceptable (or not) and where in Europe today?

What you are quoting for the managers job in a corporate outfit is about GBP 65k.
