After being tailed for four hours, the Russians eventually left British airspace.
Can this be so ???
I thought the intercepts were supposed to be before entering British airspace with the aim of deterring entry ????
Not suggesting the RAF were anything but professional but what are the protocols for such an uninvited intruder ????

Is British airspace even big enough that an airborne plane can spend four hours in it without stalling and dropping out of the sky?

As long as they remain clear of land and territorial waters there really isn't much you can do about it. They may have been in the Scottish or London FIRs but they would have been over international waters.
