I have got 3 phonecalls in 30 Hours from crewing to Please help "we don t have anyone to ....."

Please guys do what i did...tell them to FO...and say you re too tired or drunk!

If we don t make some sort of stand now when their desperate there is no point bitchin and moaning on the job because they are paying the F/O on the next aircraft 28k and youre not getting that or you can t get leave or days off.

PLEASE lets nail em now!!

Just Do Not answer the phone......much easier and no need to say anything at all.
K.I.S.S. (keep it simple silly)

But something needs to be done, as this excess flying is getting out of control fast.

Been having the worst reserve month ever.

That was not the juste of his post Fatbus. You picked out one item he mentioned to disparage the rest of his post. Naughty naughty of you, but quite typical.

I agree with most other pilots, just don't pick up the phone.

Nothing will change at EK unless we all stand together and because of some pilots like the aforementioned, nothing is ever going to change, except for the worse.

You won't hit anybody but yourself.

2 calls, 2 no's, in 24 hrs. Don't be scared to answer the phone, just say no. You're not obligated to work on anyday other than a rostered one.

I actually think people SHOULD answer their phone, because it's the only way crewing and management will get the message verbally i.e. NO.

It's a bit like going sick, just say no, don't waffle and spout out some verbal crap, it's none of their business why you are sick or not helping them out...simple as that:ok:

Desperate indeed!!
My friend, who is an CA at Emirates, was just offered 2 extra Vacation Days if he would do a trip leaving tomorrow morning. He said "NO". Was told by scheduler "Thank you. I understand. I will call next pilot". CLICK.
Things will only change there at EK if pilots make things change. Best way to do that is by making airplanes park, management pilots work or flight cancel. Better still all of the above.

I wouldn't get so carried away with hysteria. At the end of the day

1/ These things go round in cycles. Nothing new under the Sun (Nnuts)
2/ Many Airlines have these sort of issues day in day out, it's just your airline has bigger planes but also deeper pockets.
3/ Pilots, with all due respect are mercenaries, money does talk and fatigue issues / moans seem to go away if you take the $$$
4/ Play the game. If you can work out by selling your days off today and tomorrow and getting some cash that might mean you have to have legal days off instead of your next trip.
5/ The Airline will learn from it all, the only thing you have to hope is they do something about it.
In the meantime it's nothing to gloat about, it doesn't do the Pilot image much good in my humble view :\

got a call too and said no, but gave them a brief explanation and reminded them of the 2 manual insertions in the 7 days OFF I was awarded in my top bid and the manual insertion they did that got me back from a flight 1 HR before my vacation started.

just remind them why you are not helping them

WTF is that supposed to mean?

Mr Purley,

What you don't understand is that things have been rapidly declining over a long time frame.

1- Yeah things go in cycles but this one is particularly deep and negative. Even our illustrious leaders acknowledge that Rosters will continue to be this bad or worse for the next 1.5 years (minimum). The company CANNOT hire and train enough pilots based on their own growth projections and they are also assuming a 'historical' attrition rate, which is simply not going to happen.

2-No other major airline has ''these sorts of issues'' plus...shouldn't ''bigger planes and deeper pockets'' mean that these issues are more serious but also should be more manageable!

3-I agree with your third point except for the fact that the ''fatigue issues/moans'' would not go away for some extra $$$. We are talking about flight safety and health of EK pilots, not just the fact that we work so much harder than any other major airline pilots on the planet.

4- Play what game? You can't sell days off because the Rosters are so tight already and why would someone who is fatigued beyond what should EVER be acceptable for a pilot, attempt to sell his days off? Some pilots might indeed be a tad greedy but we aren't stupid.

5- This airline will NOT 'learn from it all''. Quite the contrary. If EK survives this lengthy and horrible period, our managers and for certain all local management types, will fondly recall these days as the best cost savings period in its history.

You seem to believe that pilots are EK are a bunch of whinging cry-babies, so clearly you have no concept of what has been happening and will continue to happen for quite some time.
