Eye exam for CPL

I'm working on my PPL and would like to do the CPL after that. I have Cat medical and was told that I cant do a CPL due to my eyesight (its -9.00)

I read somewhere that as long as you have a 20/30 or better vision ( with or without correction). you can do your license. The AMEs are telling me otherwise. Can anyone give me any explanations - would sure appreciate it.

If you search medical forum, you'll find lots about corrective limits.

Basically CAA/JAA currently stipulate limits of +3 to -5 for class 1, ICAO reccomend only assessing corrected vision.

There is a possibility that in the next year or so that the CAA will adopt the ICAO recommendations, but don't hold your breath.
