On a recent CRM course we studied an aircraft accident whereby after a major airliner systems failure, the flight engineer was unable to read the emergency check list due to a severe dyslexia problem. Rather than admitting he couldn't read the list, he even told the captain there was no relevent section for the emergency.
Only after the accident (fatal), was his condition mentioned.
Are there actually any restrictions placed on those with such severe dyslexia . Surely in the case of emergency there is a need for fluency in reading the emergency check lists, particularly in complex ac. where it is not possible to memorise the procedures?
