Can anyone confirm that Openskies are operating the Newark - Lhr route today for BA. Thought BA said they would not allow Openskies to ever operate into LHR.
Any comments

Haven't got a clue where it was coming in from but as I taxied out for 27L yesterday I saw a B757 in Openskies livery landing on 27R

Openskies just one of the many different airlines operating BA routes during the strike.

Not sure what this is about but assume Openskies is an airline? In any event, BA do not own or run Heathrow.

Openskies is operating flight 189 to Newark this afternoon, departing at 15.45 GMT

Heathrow Director - yes, Openskies is an airline. It's a subsidiary of BA, based at Paris Orly, which was set up a couple years ago to take advantage of the opening up of the US-EU aviation market. It operates as a business class airline, using 757s handed down from BA and acquired when it took over the French business airline L'Avion. It operates Paris - New York, Amsterdam - New York (until recently, not currently) and from later this year, Paris - Washington DC. More information about the airline on flyopenskies.com (or wikipedia of course)

They are seen at LHR on maintenance and are indeed operating for BA themselves today. As part of an agreement with BA Pilots, Open Skies are not permitted to fly from Heathrow as they are on cheaper terms and conditions and BALPA didn't want to open the door to routes being diluted away from BA mainline. However I guess today counts as exceptional circumstances....

OK thanks folks. When I was working Open Skies had a wholly different meaning!
