Hi could I , would it be possible to convert a Thai CPL/IR to a Malaysian CPL/IR and later undertake a fATPL course under a Malaysian school and take the fATPL theory exams?

Many thanks for your help

Its really sad that no one has helped you out:(

Since am still a Student Pilot myself I hope this helps:}

If Thai CPL is a recognised by ICAO then the Malaysian AIC Notice 3 Jan 00 I believe about conversions should be honnoured. Again this is subjective and you may have to carry out an abridge course with a Malaysian FTO in Malaysia depending on a case by case basis. The best bet would be for you to contact DCA Malaysia yourself. Just check out dcamalaysia.gov.my online.

Why not consider JAA FATPL?

Hope this helps, god bless and happy landings:}

Agreed. The website is Department Civil Aviation (http://www.dca.gov.my).

I have an Australian/CASA CPL+MECIR and am in the process of converting my license to Malaysian fATPL.

As a Malaysian, I have to undertake an abridged course. Its a case-by-case though and you have to write to the DFO of DCAM directly. Details again, are on the website. The abridged course usually contains 35hours twin flying + IR and all the ATPL papers.

PS. Hey, doing JAA's fATPL would be a better idea too!

Note that the CAA papers end this year's end, so next year, its all JAA for Malaysia!

Hope this helps.

Thanks all for the replies. I will strongly consider the option of undertaking a JAA ATPL. :)
