View Full Version : Asthma and the Airlines

I have a class 1 medical (UK CAA)and fly for a small charter company and a medical examination for a large airline job this week. My current employer did not require a company medical and were happy with my CAA ticket.

My concern is that I have had asthma in childhood. I know I must not lie on the form....a recipe for disaster!.....so does anybody know if the airlines will still employ me with this history? (I don't suffer with it now).

All the previous postings on the subject of asthma and flying don't seem to address the above question........most seem to be about pilots who developed it once in employment or those who cleared their history through specialists.

Thanks

Bovey.

Bovey,

The only info I can give on this one is that I have met people in military and civil aviation who have been in your position. None of these guys suffered from severe asthma but they said that providing you are now symptom and medication free, and have been for a period of years, then you are probably okay.

Best of luck to you!
