Very sad to see that UL have lost so many a/c
in the attack ..I understand that one of the a/c was only delivered yesterday..This is a great blow to Sri Lankan tourism which has been limping along for a while..

They are a grand airline to fly with (unlike their parent company, who have a lot to learn in the cabin from their Sri Lankan counterparts!!)

I hope that UL are able to become operational again soon in spite of the chaos ensuing in CMB (Hearing reports that armed forces are still flushing out packets of resistance within the perimeter fence..)

I had better find an acceptable and reliable alternative on CMB flights if they have lost 1/2 the fleet..
Indian airlines via Madras maybe...!!?!
Cathay Pacific via BKK (If CX are not on strike?!!)
Gulf Air via AUH or MCT...seems a good idea..

Good Luck UL!

Really sad about UL. They had progressed from their earlier 737s and Tristars and the service had improved tremendously.
Two of the aircraft which were on ground at
CMB seems to be the A320s used for flights to India/Pakistan/Maldives.
THey have six aircraft diverted 4 to MAA
one to TRV and the Flight from Heathrow to DXB. All these are 330/340. So I guess they should be able to restore the longhauls fairly soon. The short term impact I feel will be on the A320 flights to the subcontinent.
Regarding alternatives among others
why not Royal Jordanian from Amman or
Kuwait Airways from KWI?
And I dont expect IC to cancel their flights
from MAA very long (the Indian cricket team is stranded there).
