To business travellers with laptops - if you have a locking device (known as a Kensington lock), it may be classified as a security risk.
I had my laptop bag opened at London Stansted and the security guy was interested in the lock, which is a steel cable with a loop at one end and a lock at the other. He thought it could be used to garrotte someone (!) so he called his supervisor.
In the end they decided it was OK to let me through (and it was all handled very politely and professionally so I have no complaints at all in that respect). I just wonder what will happen the next time. I never leave my laptop without locking it to something solid and I usually travel with only hand luggage, so I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

PS They never noticed my swiss army knife that I'd accidentally left in my pocket <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
