Ok guys. Question:

I have a FAA ATP with a B190 type. Did the training at Flight Safety Orlando in 2007. I worked for GIA part 121 ops for a little over a year and left for a job in Africa. My last 441 in the US was in February 2008. Now I fly in Africa with a South African validation under my FAA ATP for a 135 ops. We do 6 months proficiency as in the US on the B190. Now my question is: Am I still 135 current in the US?

I assume you meant a BE-1900 type rating ?

Depends on your training program ...

Having experience in this area, I can tell you FAR121 proficiency does not, in any way, help you maintain FAR135 currency. I am subjected to 6 month FAR121 and FAR135 checks, one for a major airline and the other a FAR135 Carrier that I own.

If your checkrides are given by (135.293(A,B) - 12 month, 135.297 (6 month) and 135.299 - 12 month) a FAA Inspector, check airman or training/checking provider approved by the FAA Administrator ... yes you are current FAR 135.

The location of the check is not the issue ... who adminsters it is.
