PC to TV problem

Help !

I have a new Acer Aspire and a new HD LCD TV. I have been watching downloads on the TV using an HDMI cable for the last few weeks, however all of a sudden I can't get the computer to connect. If I try and toggle between the two using the function key the computer monitor turns off and nothing appears on the TV. Any suggestions greatly recieved !! :ugh:

Bit basic but, cable fallen out of the TV's socket (or not right in) or settings changed on the TV? Settings changed on the laptop?

Windows 7?

If so, look in hardware and devices in control panel. The tv should appear as a device when connected & the properties tab of the tv should tell you what the status is.
