The Coventry Building Society have had a 'Poppy Bond' on offer (not a bad rate of interest too!) for a few years now and undertook to contribute to the Poppy Appeal for each account opened. They have today told me that they paid a staggering £1.6 million into the fund last year and that this year's donation beats that at £1.8 million, one of the largest donations ever made to the appeal.

Well done all, investors and the Coventry!

Good effort, though the RBL is well down my Christmas card list. I raised about £3000 including gift aid selling the GW1 DVD on that auction site. Did I get a letter, a call, anything? No, not a squeak. You'd have thought the accounts dept. would have wondered why they were getting such fat payments from Missionfish, who process the charity sale proceeds.

It's H4H for me from now on.

I had a similar experience with Combat Stress a year or so back. I guess while it is nice to get some acknowledgement I prefer to think they aren't wasting resources on my ego to the detriment of someone in need.
