Came across this advertisement today ...

http://home.airindia.in/SBCMS/Downloads/A320-Abi-initio-Type-Rating-course-for-Pilots.pdf

The "Maharaja" is really desperate for $$$. They seem to be running out of tax payer's money. :}

All they need to do now is to offer a few hundred hours of line time on RHS for some additional 20 to 30 lakh rupees, and we have our own "desi" Eaglejet !!
... soon, the dream and honour to fly for the National carrier would just be Rs.70 lakhs away !! :E

Well it indicates that the trend of Indian Aviation industry is changing!! (Looks like the airlines have invented some kind of instrument to measure the level of despiration of unemployed pilots!!)Earlier it was pilots and crew members dectating the terms and now the tables have turned!!Airlines are upto taking every single penny out of a pilot's pocket even before he joins them!! (Already happening in Europe and other parts of the world).Not a good sign atleast for the Indian pilots!

The problem is that there is no shortage of idiots who will pay for their typeratings or pay for these "pay to play" schemes.

This career is being eroded away....:mad:

Whats AB-INITIO Type Rating?
Why do they use the word candidate in place of customer?

sharma.vish

I dont think think they will offer employment after complition of A320 TR training.What they are planing to do is to use their training facility(which is being used to train only NACIL pilots ) to make some extra money and help "The Maharaja" come out of its financial crisis!! I think its a pretty smart move from their side.Current market conditions are pretty favorable as well (Big pool of low hour CPL holders.Many low hour pilots willing to pay for their advance trainings.Pilots who have to go out side the country to get them selves type-rated now will have an option of getting their TR in India it self).May be a win win situation for NACIL.

@jimmygill

Another apt question would be .. why on earth is this type rating program mentioned in their CAREERS section !!?? :confused:

@sharma.vish
yea even m confused bcoz they have nt written anythng clear abt the employment in air india after the type rating.....

Thats because they have absolutely no intention right now to employ any freshers. Right now, the people in the think tank of this national carrier with a bloated workforce, are finding ways of getting some instant cash.
Tax payers money aparently has not been enough so far. :ok:

I found a lot of amusing stuff in that circular.

Take a good note of the following points :

1.
Eligibility criteria
The minimum educational qualifications is pass in 10+2 standard examination with
mathematics and physics subjects from a recognised Board / University or its equivalent
examination or any higher qualification. Candidates must also be in possession of Indian
current licences such as CPL or ATPL, FRTO, COP-RTR and Class I medical throughout
the training period and such responsibility lies with the individual.

Obviously some illiterate paper pushers have prepared this advertisement. They want candidate to possess Indian CPL, blah blah .. doesnt that anyway imply candidate already is a 10+2 pass-out ?? :confused:

FACT : They will take anyone with a shadow and a CPL (foreign CPL under conversion too) and ofcourse the MOOLAH ! :E

It could also mean that the requirement of COP-RTR, FRTOL, current Medical etc. is simply to purposely delay training by increasing paper work burden.

And in any case, this is NOT a type rating course. CTE/NACIL will only issue a COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE. The responsibility of getting the rating endorsed on the CPL is not theirs. It is clearly mentioned that further training and formalities would be required for the same.

2.
Duration of the course
The duration of the training may vary anywhere between 22 to 36 weeks (approx.) for the
entire batch as per the performance displayed by the individual and as per the training
seniority. Any further extension to the training period due to unavoidable circumstances /
performance levels of the candidate should not be construed as the responsibility of
NACIL.

:}:}Note especially the last line ! That says it all !
22 to 36 weeks is a JOKE in CTE.
They have a huge backlog of trainees in IC. According to my friend who is a trainee in IC, it takes almost 2 years for the whole type endorsement.
And even there, only the ones with big jack/pulls get done in that time. Others who are "unconnected" take much longer.
It doesnt take rocket science to estimate the ACTUAL duration of this course, if anyone does enroll.

and finally, anyone going ahead with this one is a true moron ! :ok:

CTE/NACIL will only issue a COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE... 110% correct since CTE is not a DGCA approved TRTO only the Jet Airways training center is a TRTO to issue type ratings in India...

jimmygill

CTE is a TRTO, I think they got approval before Jet got a TRTO approval.

optimus.Prime
5th Mar 2010, 05:09
Well if Jet and CTE are approved, then any idea as to whats with CAE,Bangalore? Approved as yet?:confused:

Btw folks any ideas as to the current "Sale-Rate" of the Bus and the NG Types at the above mentioned establishment? Coz it seems to be pretty evident that like all to ever emerge from the NACIL Stable, this "So-Priced-Niche" product too will have very few takers!

soaring.high
5th Mar 2010, 08:01
Well I think if its a NACIL TRTO, It should have DGCA approval.Would not be surprised if 9 W comes up with an offer similar to that of NACIL's. After all Mr.Naresh Goyal need money to keep his Merc running!! Cheers!!:ok:

They didn't mention if the price includes the 10.3% (Service Tax + Education Cess)
