Security Clearance

Just a quick question that I am trying to find an answer to. What does SC stand for on a security clearance record, is it Security Cleared (whatever that would mean?), Secret or other. If anyone knows for sure or has a contact number who would be able to confirm it would be much apreciated.

Security Check (SC) for people employed in posts which have substantial access to SECRET assets or occasional controlled access to TOP-SECRET assets.

Oh, top tip guys - and girls. Under DPA requirements, your Interviewing Officer will offer you a copy of the interview report. Seems a good idea....except... it will be sent to your home address (policy) and in my case, was delivered in an unsealed window envelope to the wrong address, na dMrs WP opened it. Luckily nothing that I was (too) embarrased about. I took this up with CE/DVA and she explained 'resource constraints' resulted in the unsealed window envelope business. Fair to say, I was appoplectic.

From recent bitter experience, if a serviceperson was to be so cavalier with the handling of sensitive/persec material, suspension pending investigation - for several months - is to be expected under the new Discipline Act.

Just warning you chaps, and chapesses. One to watch out for.

You should speak to these people - they are the main agency that deals with this sort of thing. Their numbers are on the website along with all the info you might need on teh various levels of clearance and how you are vetted.
