View Full Version : On-line timetables?

Travelling around a lot, getting delayed or having to change plans. Ideally I'd love to be able to go to a travel agent, airline or even to my companies travel department and tell themwhat flights I want booked rather than have then put me on an impossible route on an impossible airline. Is there an on-line timetable similar to the huge ABC books beloved of travelagents in the pre-web age? Any help/advice will be gratefully received and used.

Usually I work out the appropriate airline(s) for the route(s), then go to their website for skeds.

OAG is the big player in consolidated airline timetables but it looks like their website is not up to the standard of their reference books: www.oag.com (http://www.oag.com)

This one looks interesting, but I haven't really checked it out yet: http://airtravelcentre.com/fast.htm

www.travelocity.com (http://www.travelocity.com) is the one I use. Click on flights. You have to create a user profile to be given a userID and password, but they don't subsequently spam you. Or, at least, they haven't in the couple of years I've been using it to search.

This gives flights details to a fair degree of accuracy, but the fares information is rubbish - the fares quoted are between quadruple and ten times what you actually pay. Once you've made your flight choices using Travelocity, go to the websites of the relevant airlines to find out what the fares are really going to be.
