We sold a C172 recently to a customer in Russia however we were told that there is no type certificate for C172s in Russian civil aviation authority. I think it is hard to believe it.
Does anyone have an experience in GA aircraft sales to Russia?
Thanks..

Hi,
I would rather talk abour "Class certification"...but no experience in that field with RU..anyway my simply advise shouud be..send hem a mail ..
>> the official russian aviation administration:
FEDERAL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF RUSSIA. Information about the Company. Description, Address, Phones, e-mail, web site, photo. Information about Leader, photo of the Leader. A grand Encyclopaedia of russian goods and services producers in Internet (http://enc.ex.ru/cgi-bin/n1firm.pl?lang=2%5Et&f=1030)
Otherwise, my option should be to consider a "way trough" like contacting Czech CAA, or Polish CAA..well a contry having logically contacts between western and eastern aviation hemispheres.
Good luck
