Dear Expats:

Is there a centralized credit reporting agency in Hong Kong? (e.g., in the United States we have 3 majors reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union). Also, when applying for lines of credit, is your established credit history from your home country taken into consideration, or do you start off with a blank slate after taking up residency in Hong Kong?

Transunion.

Its newish.. they are not that good yet, and I've heard stories of people getting HUGE credit lines (100,000 USD +) and others not getting simple tax loans.. their reporting is very very specific.

Ie in Canada , if you were 30 days late on a bill, you'd incur a R1, after 60 a R2 ect.. here they measure late payment in days!! It will say you were 1 days late paying on your credit report.

edited to add : you start off new here. No history. But they will issue you CC, ect based on your payslips.
