Jan 28th 2010 at ADL saw 3 missed approaches performed by Virgin Blue..

One resulted in the pilot declaring a Pan Pan due to a slat failure.

I wasn't around for the landing. Were emergency Services used and how was the outcome?

Chances are that they landed safely and the emergency services were present. Any other outcome it would've been all over the news.

Thread Closed.

Oh wait, I can't figure out how to do that :E

pan pan, mayday etc sounds jurassic to me. I'm sure it meant something once, but hey I'm over 40 and I don't know the history. Perhaps it is time to modernize this rare but critical radio call?

This thread is a good example of why PPRuNe is a waste of time these days.

My solution would be make it a closed forum where you have to pay something - even if it is only $50 a year.

Guarantee you might get a couple more of the 'p''s back in to PPRuNe.
Indeed. Some of the deleted posts are a clear example of why the credibility of D&G has slipped over the past few years. :ugh:

I say keep it. It makes it very clear whats going on. What do you propose to change it to?
