Only info I can see is that it left LHR 360 minutes late so, it would therefore have arrived late at BCN.

the rumour is correct. I was on a BA flight arriving into LHR, parked up on a remote stand and only had the use of one bus to ferry pax to the terminal, all other buses we sent to this a/c that (from what I was told by the red cap) returned to LHR with fumes reported on board. That is all I know I'm afraid.

was that the original aircraft or the replacement ? rumour i heard was that pax transferred to a different plane for the eventual flight after safe return to LHR.

Bit off-topic but I've heard a few BA 757s are going Gatwick tommorow, if so what registrations and how many left in operation?

Don't know about the incident in question, but it seems something very similar happened yesterday: Sky News - BA Flight Makes Emergency Landing (http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/British-Airways-Flight-BA-487-Makes-Emergency-Landing-In-Barcelona-On-Way-To-London-Strange-Smell/Article/201002315552590?f=rss)

A British Airways plane has been forced to make an emergency landing after leaving Barcelona for London - after the pilot reported a strange smell in the cockpit.

The plane was forced to land some 20 minutes after taking off

Terrified passengers on the fully-booked plane were plunged into darkness moments before touchdown.

The flight, BA 487, had taken off at 8.25 pm local time on Thursday night, and turned back to the Spanish city after less than 20 minutes in the air.

Moments earlier the captain used the tannoy to call for a senior crew member to join him in the cockpit "immediately".

Passenger Joe Braidwood, who works for News Core in London, said: "Everyone began to fidget as it became clear something was wrong.

"There was no announcement at first, but the crew began pacing up and down the plane.

"The pilot finally announced that there was a problem with an unusual smell in the cockpit and we were going to make an emergency landing.

"Everyone began to panic as we didn't know what that meant. Moments later all the lighting cut out, and people gasped."

He added: "I've been told the pilots were wearing their oxygen masks in the cockpit because the fumes were so bad."

The flight was later cancelled and passengers had to reschedule their flights for Friday or the weekend.
