Brilliant video taken by some aussie ATCs of a fully loaded IL 76 only just lifting off the ground at Canberra. Wait for the comment at the end. :ok:

oh yea. ive only just seen it. soz
But then, maybe he planned to use all the available runway, going beyond VR to be on the safe side if it was hot and high. If the concrete is there, nothing wrong in using it, so long as the tyres don't exceed temperatures.
Not an airline pilot [ex ppl] but await qualified comments on whether exceeding VR is a good/bad idea.
