Here's a bit of blurb from B.I Hengi's airlines remembered

(ISBN 1-85780-091-5 Copyright Midland Publishing)

Ambassador was founded in 1992 following a gap in the market after Air Europe's collapse.

The airline did not have it's own operating licence at first but secured the loan of 2 Boeing 757's from Caledonian Airways. Operating approval was granted in April 1993.

Principal airports were Gatwick, Glasgow and Newcastle and destinations were prinicipally to Greece and Cyprus. Man and BHX were later served

In Summer 94 the fleet consisted of 3 Boeing 757-200, 2 Boeing 737-200s and 2 Airbus A320 which operated exclusively for Goldcrest Holidays

28th Nov 1994 Ambassador ceased flying. The tour company Best Travel which had been associated with them had entered bankruptcy. It also lost the Inspirations Travel business after it purchased Caledonian Airways

Hope that helps

If my memory serves me correctly, immediately after Ambassador went bust a new Gatwick-based airline was formed called Sabre initially with the two ex-Ambassador B737-200s. Cannot remember if any ex-Ambassador people were involved but I think a Mr Wyatt of XL Airways fame was involved. Sabre was initially operated on Air Foyle´s AOC and I happened to be at Luton one foggy morning immediately after Sabre commenced operations with one of their aircraft diverting to Luton from Gatwick because of fog. A very pleasant surprise when I was a keen spotter etc. Hope this helps also.

I have slides of the two 737's and the 757 G-BUDX.
(but no scanner - sorry)

Were you aware of the A.320 SX-BSH that was at EGBB for a summer season.
All white but with titles and tail logo. Again have slides and some prints (the latter somewhere in a vast collection).

Didn't Ambassador operate more than 1 A320 for the summer season of 1994? Got some photos somewhere in the albums when they were flying out of Birmingham.

I was actually on holiday when they went bust. Flew out to wherever (I can't remember where exactly) on a 737-200 and flew back on an AirOps L1011 (or something with 3 engines!). We didn't actually know they'd gone bust until we turned up for our return flight! Fortunately to holiday company had laid on the AirOps aircraft to take us home.

I recall they had some rather nice Geordie cabin crew who used to stay in the Gatwick Hilton :E

Try posting on the "Where are they now" Forum calling all ex Ambassador Staff. You could get some replies from crews on that one.
