Hi everyone, Is there any problem on logging flight time as picus in an airplane certified single pilot but that is permitted to be flown with a copilot logging time as picus?
FAR 91 states that??
Thank you!

In a single pilot certified plane you can only log time time as PIC , so if you fly a leg you can log the time otherwise not .

You cannot even log SIC time

(f) Logging second-in-command time. A person may log second-in-command flight time only for that flight time during which that person:
(1) Is qualified in accordance with the second-in-command requirements of Sec. 61.55 of this part, and occupies a crewmember station in an aircraft that requires more than one pilot by the aircraft's type certificate; or
(2) Holds the appropriate category, class, and instrument rating (if an instrument rating is required for the flight) for the aircraft being flown, and more than one pilot is required under the type certification of the aircraft or the regulations under which the flight is being conducted.

Are you asking about operations in the USA or in Latin America?

Certain Latin American countries require the commercial operation of Caravans with a co-pilot. Go ahead, log it as SIC.

If when you return to the USA the FAA throws a hissy-fit, pull out the national regulation of the country or the Ops Specs of the airline that you flew in, as well as Part 61 and cite, as ab33t has:

(2) Holds the appropriate category, class, and instrument rating (if an instrument rating is required for the flight) for the aircraft being flown, and more than one pilot is required under the type certification of the aircraft or the regulations under which the flight is being conducted.

With the exception of Belize, and possibly Panama, 208s require a co-pilot in Central America, no matter how many seats are installed. A co-pilot is required for BZ reg 208s when operating outside of Belize.

That means in Belize or Panama you wouldn't be able to log time as picus?

I don't know how it works for Panama, but here in Brazil you need a permanent Visa before you can even start a license conversion (for a CPL), you need to be fluent in Portuguese (air law, medical test are all in portuguese).

Most jobs are for citizens only, like airlines and all the companies that work with the govt.

The times where you just move to Brazil are over, now it's really hard and complicated....
