I'd be interested in getting some first hand feedback from anyone who has undertaken instruction with the HK Flying Club, particularly on the R44.

I'm now living most of the time in HK and am keen to get back into the air, but want to hear a bit more about the quality, safety, and level of experience of those involved in the training programme. And are there any restrictions that I should be aware of concerning when I can and cannot fly (my time is very flexible).

Thank you all.

call +852 2711 5555 HK Aviation Club at Kai Tak. I did all my flying training with Kenny, John Li and Danny Patterson.. all excellent instructors with plenty of experience/knowledge. safety record very good but recent R22 incident with PPL pilot has limited options of flying from Kai Tak with less than 250 heli hrs.. hope helps!

Also may be able to offset some costs against tax.. thats a maybe if you can convince HKIRS that its personal development training!

They actually have a PPL ground course at the HKAC too. If I'd be you I would go and listen to that, it speaks volumes about the standard at HKAC. I am sure after that you will be able to make up your mind in a blink of an eye :}

You can also take a tour and book an introductory trial flight, you don't need to be member for that. You can also speak to the people mentioned above...

If you have to fly and don't mind the extra $$$, you will have no other choice than going to the HKAC. If you want to learn something, you are better off overseas.

HKAC does actually more fixed wing flying then helicopter flying...

Last time I looked there wasn't a fixed wing called the R44? :rolleyes:

Thank you all, I had actually tried Rotorheads previously and had drawn a blank there...

So I'm going to go and hear what HKAC have to say and try their intro flight with an open mind (and wallet). However looking out of the window it looks like it may be a bit of a wait!
