COA 757 diverted to MAN this morning?

openatc shows a 7700 squawk and a direct track from near BRS to CF23R at MAN.Looks like the EWR-BRS flight.

I don't have clue what those abbreviations mean, but if EWR, BRS and MAN are airfields and he diverted from over his destination back to MAN it sounds like a weather problem..??

Spot on sir!I used those abbreviations coz everyone else in here seems to.

But MAN were talking "emergency" to other aircraft in their space and a 7700 sqawk was showing.That's all I know.Just wonered if anyone else did.He landed OK.That's the main thing.

Had problems with his flaps, presume he chose Manchester for the longer runway.

at brs we were told it was the flaps,my question is isnt bhxs runway long enough or was the decision based on the maintenance facilities available at man?rgds

I have a pal who is very experienced with 757s.I'll ask him or get him to come on here for you.MAN's are both longer than BHX's and not sure what the wind was doing that day

I wouldn't choose BHX with a flap problem, and I fly a 737. Understand the braking system on the 757 is much better, however it's about giving yourself the best chances. With dual Runways over 3000m long I think, best cruise on another 10 or so mins up to MAN and get the girl on the ground and go home. Swept wing aircraft need to be treated with care when clean. Plus, if anything, Continental probably have more access to engineering support at Manchester.
