what is a typical salary for a Capt on the CL850?
How much do you get for a day as freelancer?

fixed salary: depends on supply and demand..., I do not see an industry standard yet.

freelance rate: between 550 and 850 euro per day

700 € is min, 800 € is not to bad, 900 € is ok. I charged for CL604 1000 € a day. Please dont sell yourself underprice, it was a long way to reach a suitable salary. We have to keep it how it was.

550 Euro a day.... we pay more than that that for a Legacy F/O.

I know there is a crisis :{ but 800-1000 Euro should be realistic.

I would love to agree with you guys on what is reasonable and what is not.
Unfortunately, the reasonable has really nothing to do with the market today.

I would say, anything between 500 and 800 euros would be ok (ok, the 500 is a bit low...)

There are a lot of CRJ guys out there without employment, so the technical part of just flying could be fairly easily fulfilled.
Then comes the other part, the business aviation and dealing with "the other stuff".
With the right combination of type experience and business aviation experience you can end up in the higher end of scale.

2 years ago CL604 freelance captain's standard salary was 1000 euros / day.
Not anymore...

Again, please do not sell yourselves short, but also keep in mind the reality.

Gentlemen, sorry to say it but you are living in a dremworld and past. No operator can effort to pay the rates you are mentioning. If they do fine, but they won t be anymore 2011 in the market and you salary is gone again. Please you are educated and should have a feeling of the market situation.

Maybe not the operator, but the owner. I earn 500 EUR a day as freelance F/O on Hawker and so far no one has complained (remember: tag price for a Hawker is 15.000.000 USD and 60.000 USD for the optional Nescafé machine - but maybe everything is cheaper on a Challenger 850).

Can anyone help with what a captain might expect as a salary for a
CL850. I have a good idea what a CL604/5 captain is paid, but not sure what it might be for the larger CL850. Many thanks

Again, in reference to my earlier post in this thread, I would say that the salary of 850 should be somewhere around the salary on 604, if not a bit lower.
And this is all due to the present economical supply/demand situation....

There are a lot of guys out there that think 800-1000 a day is a lot of money. And it is until you have to pay for your first recurrent. I fly the g450-550, and a recurrent lists for 28.6k. Then you have to factor in a week of no income, hotel and transportation to and from recurrent. It costs me 40k/year just for currency. Then you have to factor in things that a lot of our current crowd does not consider, such as retirement and sick days. At the end of the day you need to realize that it will cost you 1k/week to stay in business for any length of time. If you just need to stay in business until your next recurrent you can work for much lower rates of course.

Those of us that have been contractors for a long time are finally starting to see that the ad hoc contractors are coming up on needing recurrent training and they are going away from the market since they didn't save up over the past year. I take no pleasure in their misfortunes, but it has been a tough year as a contractor. I am still in business and things are picking up due to less, competition.

The people that own these airplanes can afford to pay properly. If they can't they shouldn't have a plane in the first place. (I have a feeling the cost issue is more related to the management companies than the owners).

I charge Eur 1000/day plus all expenses etc when doing freelance. Had complaints about my rate during the negotiations but never a question at the contract closing...
