I don't know if it arrived because I've been 'dickering' around with .sol files (flash cookies QV), but yesterday an orange/brown icon appeared in the sys tray called 'Shockwave Updater'. No mouse over options, no install remove, no startup item no MSconfig, no 'Service' - Zip.
I tried all the Googled 'solutions' including switching it off via shockwave panel and none worked.
I eventually found the key via HJT and it lay in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunOnce
but it did not appear to be anywhere else! Deleted the key and it is away. That'll teach me to try and outsmart the geeks!
EDIT: Zone Alarm was indicating it ran 'Swhelper_1100465.exe' - but can I find that file anywhere? It isn't where it is supposed to be. Curious.
Edit2: Eventually tracked it down at WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 - it was reported as being in \system32\Macromedia
