I second the sentiment Nani, with the exception being those who let there dogs crap in the street and those who allow their dogs to eat their young children !

Should have posted it on the Thatcherism: how it all began . . . thread.
Half of them over there would like the tune :ok:

Now that's what I call a "Dog Lover" :}

To be honest Baz, I much prefer Billy Bragg's version :ok:

That's why we have two Jacks, and Bandit - who looks like one, but kept growing!

19th Dec 2009, 18:39
Nani, looks like our JRT has been moonlighting!

19th Dec 2009, 18:46
El Grifo,
Thanks for that. It would have gone down well at Ravenscraig Steel Works in the mid nineties.
Shortly after the shutdown, a BA captain inbound to Glasgow, for reasons best known to himself, drew the passengers attention to it as they overflew the site with a comment about "The world's largest steel museum." He's still with us so I guess there weren't any ex steelworkers on board.

Never heard The Red Flag to the tune of A Highland Lad before - almost turned me - but not quite :)

No,not my JR. I was hoping it belonged to Mr.Draper.;)

I have 2 different breeds, Kangals will raid the cookie factory to pillage everything on site. The other breed (Border Collie),if they are not on hooves and don't baaa, they have no interest.

My request from Santa is this cat.

YouTube - Cleaning Cat uses iRobot Roomba 560 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewdbilSWjaM)

ShyTorque, it is very impressive how well this JRT is trained. Hats off to his trainer.

No,not my JR.
You misunderstand the northern vernacular - the 'Yer' does, in fact mean your, but it isn't specific to the reader or listener - it refers to whatever the subject of the sentence as being an item that others might own.
Wistful, almost, perhaps . . .

Thanks,I misunderstood.

Remember a dog is not just for Christmas, with careful carving it can last for a few days

Happy Christmas to you too Nani. Bryn would have wished you the same but he's off sharpening his teeth on a lump of ex-cow skeleton . :E
Grif:those who let there dogs crap in the street and those who allow their dogs to eat their young children !Firstly I think you mean people who do not clean up after their dog and that infuriates me too. Like most dog owners who try to act responsibly, my pockets are full of little black plastic clean-up bags. I'm glad you blamed the owners of the dogs who have killed or injured children, just like children dogs have to be taught how to behave too and children need to be taught how to treat dogs properly, however - no dog, no matter how trustworthy, should ever be left alone with a child.

Merry Christmas to you too Nani. I can't remember if I sent you this one. :D

Very Best Wishes to all of you, wherever you are. :ok:

Actually that's quite an old version, Basil, the tune's called "The White Cockade" (to which A Highland Lad is sung) and I've always preferred that one to the more normal "O Tannenbaum" which I've always thought a bit of a dirge. Not that I'm a leftie myself, you understand, but as they say, the Devil has all the best tunes!

Great video pigboat. Loved that "Cat Pushes Dog Too Far " video, where do you all find these?

El Grifo
20th Dec 2009, 18:55
Aided and abetted of course, by one of Scotlands finest socialist cantors, the illustrious Dick Gaughan :ok:
