I think that's the fold back blades being trialled at Elvington earlier in the year. I'm surprised a pic has been posted as it was supposed to be hush hush and a little earner for the YAA.

The system will enable UK air ambulances operating the MD902 to get to the casualty and then onward to the hospital a lot faster than standard model variants. A throw-off from the Military LUH bid made by HD Helicopters under the 'Black Operations' request.

The extended tube at the back produces the thrust by 'reheat' and the folded blades form 'wings' to give the lift. This particular ship doesn't appear to have the extra fuel tank needed, unless this was taken after the internal option was looked at later in the trials.

This pic was taken during the transition stage of flight, when the blades begin to fold. The car to the right of pic, is gathering all the research telemetry, and of course films the process 'live'.

Does this model have "whisper" or should I say "whispa" mode too?

Rumour has it that the East of England Air Ambulance are looking at a tail rotor version of this system for their BK117 in order to help clear landing sites at raves in Norfolk.

flaxton

how dare you steal our technology this is a photo taken before your exploder was even made its what we use to make the gazelle go faster

as you can see the front 2 blades fold and the rear one stays put, we did experience problems as the rear bladekept getting too hot but adjusting the exhaust cured this

you will hear from my solicitors later

Flashing around at these sort of speeds is dangerous. Haven't you seen what it can do to your hair? No wonder many helicopter pilots go prematurely bald on top.

MD600 driver -

We also took your wacky fenestron idea and placed it where it should have been in the first place - up on the roof providing air for the Notar system. So you see, when people say that the Notar system replaces the tail rotor they are quite wrong. It actually re-places it.

You may have dreamt up the Scimitar technology, but all ownership is theft so all I have to say to you is pot.....kettle.

And finally, I would love to hear from your solicitor. Would you like to hear from my Chairwoman?
