View Full Version : Missed opportunites: Atlas charters

Don't you just love it? We are wet-leasing capacity on Atlas to fly our loads, while we are also paying the storage fees of our classic and BCF freighters.

Is it me or are they purposely trying to loose money? I understand that sometimes, if you feel that demand will be temporary, it is advantageous to use short-term leases. But we are canceling / delaying flights because of equipment problems leading to shortage of aircraft. Instead of demanding 23.8hrs of daily utilization from our aircraft, would it not be better to bring that down a bit and keep the parked aircraft in Hong Kong to achieve that?

Imagine how profitable this place would be if it were run by competent people. Just amazing. :yuk:

It does make you wonder, why none of our illustrious highly paid leaders thought far enough ahead to have at least 1 or 2 of the parked freighters available to return to service at relatively short notice? Or were they all too busy panicking and proclaiming the sky is falling? And rushing to show their superiors how much money they were saving.:ugh:

I do hope questions are asked in the boardroom as to why we were caught short of capacity, and unable to take full advantage of the upturn! :suspect:

They should probably give themselves a bigger bonus next year. Actually...will. Will.

At the time the decision was made to put the 74F in the desert it was only based on one thing. Cash saving.

Registrations nominated was based on a/c with checks due and donks requiring overhaul.

Now we have a fleet in the desert all due expensive checks and engine overhaul, at a time when both HX and TX capacity are maxed out

Yep, certainly saved them from making some (more) cash.

Not quite Noddy, there are two Dragonair BCFs parked up in Victorville which weren't due anything. Some of their crew are now "extra" on the 'bus at KA and the others took a few DEC slots at CX.

Looking at a number of the CX/KA 744s at VCV, they are missing engines in in 4 pods, they are not going anywhere until they get engines for them.

Next we will be reconfiguring our cabins with less business seats " cause the premium sector dynamic has changed" just as businessmen start travelling again....:ok:

They've already started to do that on the 777-300s. Another incompetent knee-jerk reaction to transform CX into an AirAsia competitor due to the "profound and long term change in corporate travelling practices"...

They must have preached their doom and gloom gospel so much they started to believe themselves because, surely, no one can be that stupid?

Zeke,

the 4 'removed' donks from VCV were used as spares to support the unsched 524 removals of 2009. The now u/s removed engines are kicking their heels in Haesl. Some of them awaiting expensive repairs in 2010/2011 and beyond. This exercise of parking 'soon to be repaired' donks only delays costs......

So when the whole world is recovering we will be spending what we should have been spending last year = lower profits = less bonus for the erk's.

Ho, ho, ho!

The reconfiguration of the 773's should have been done a year ago, when Management were first bleating about the new airline business model.

We had a POB of 419 the other day.. 398 pax, 2 crew seats, 2 jump seats plus the crew! :ooh:
