Anyone transited through Mahle in the Maldives for a tech stop? Is fuel readily available or do you have to arrange supplies prior. Would it be better to transit through India instead.

Trips being considered are Oz to Eurpope and back in a citation.

Would avoid India if possible.

There is Male and Gan Island to the South of Male. You wont get anything as far as refreshments go at Gan but you will avoid traffic. :}

Not sure how fuel prices compare. Not much in it between India and Maldives, IIRC.

There is no shortage of Jet A1 there as the number of large jets that stop there from Europe and regularly uplift large quantities of the stuff would prove. There's also the large fleet of Twin otters which require it.

Whether you would need to pre-order or not I couldn't tell you though.

Anytime you can avoid India, do so.

Now that being said, I have had a couple of relative fast tec-stops in Mumbia, less than two hours, one less than an hour. But a lot of folks tell me that I was lucky.

I've heard nothing but good about the Maldives for tec-stops.

Thanks for the replies so far.

As far as weather is concerned, does Mahle ever require instrument approaches, obviously being tropical it would get the usual CB activitiy and short periods of bad wx.

Reason I ask is that most small biz jets wont have the legs to divert to mainland India so you really only have Gan island as an alternate. So when you depart you have to be sure you can get in.

The Norfolk island ditching has really put a different light on remoat island destinations.

We used VOMM Chennai / India last year, for fuel, less than 50min on ground....
