Interesting read here from the MoD of an incident which happened in January 09.

Good stuff regarding the crew involved. Well done to Airman Saunders and Lt Cdr Simmonite for getting it out in time.

The incident signal for that event was superb reading and Gav was very rightly rewarded for his superb flying skills and aircraft captaincy.

However, if the AH hadn't been buggering about in the first place this may never had happened.

Are you saying they shouldn't have been re-supplying the ground forces? That they should have left the dusty blighters to run out of ammo, etc while in contact with Taliban?

my understanding is that he meant if they had an AH-64 escort they probably would never have come under fire?

Guys - please lets not get into a slagging match about AH! They do a bloody brilliant job out there and most of what they do goes unrewarded and unrecognised. I for one (with multiple tours under my belt out there) cannot fault them in any way.

I understand that PPrune is about free speech and opinion, but lets not let this degenerate......
