Has anyone had to go through the licence renewal process where they had to do a proficiency check with a JAA authorized examiner?

Make sure that the TRE has UK CRMI accreditation

Not sure if a UK CRMI is really required for a LPC - I thought that's only needed to do an OPC in a UK AOC ...?

Quite right, OPC only. I stand corrected

Thanks for the responses...

The lasors document says "proficiency check with a JAA authorized examiner" - they don't specify if it is an LPC or an OPC....

Is there a tried and trusted method of finding a "find your friendly JAA TRE" - in the USA?

There is a vast number of corporate pilots who when in USA get a FAA and JAA recurrent at the same time.

Depending on your needs, find a USA TRO and ask the question.

But not if they are doing a single pilot waiver renewal... We've been around that one, but thank you for the input.
