Adria should be Aviance and also SN Brussels has been omitted, also handled by Aviance. However, in light of the recent take-over - where it says Aviance, should now read Servisair !! :(

When you account for the Servisair buyout of Aviance, it makes for scary reading for anyone not employed by Servisair. They are basically a law unto themselves. There is NO way that other handling agents can even be REMOTELY competitive now with Servisair. Furthermore, should anything happen to Servisair and they collapse overnight (not saying that it will happen but in this volatile industry it certainly COULD), the airport would be in for one hell of a wake up call! I wonder if the Competition Commission is looking into this purchase?

Now Swissport is certainly in no position to buy up the "little guys" so what is to stop Servisair from gobbling up the other competitors (Menzies, FS and PH) and driving Swissport off the airport, and having themselves a monopoly at one of Europe's largest airports? I personally find this rather disturbing!

As far as I am aware, none of the others are up for sale so unlikely. MAN is a big airport, but alone would not cause a problem. I'm sure the monoploies and mergers commision will have looked at this and this may be why Aviance was packaged in chunks for sale?

easyJet

Volume is no longer the key to the industry. Contracts have to be priced to make profit on their own or the loss of the major contract can cause major problems for any handler.

Just because Aviance have gone (from Jan) it doesn't mean the contracts will all stay with SA. As has been said many times before, there is likely to be a clause in most contracts allowing terminaltion under such circumstances.

There are likely to be movers and shakers throughout the UK stations where there are competitors already set up, or even allow a foot in the door in places which were only Aviance previosly.

Off topic but not everyone will be handled by SA, mainly becasue that it to much for one company to organize.

Jet2 will not go to SA because they have publicy stated that they dont want to.

Just to clear up Premier Handling and Flight Support.

As above Saga, Turk, and Viking and handled above wing by Prem, this is also the case with Danube. Flight Support do all the underwing for these airlines, and also Operations for Danube.

Last time I heard BIMAN was a SA contract, and Eastern were handled by Aviance.

Jet2 are going self handling, above wing at least. I believe it is SA who have said to Jet2 that they wont be doing split-handling. Which begs the question - who'll be doing the ramp for them - Menzies ?, Swissport? , Flight support ?? - answers on a post card anyone !
