Hello Gentlemen,

did anyone experience failures on the G600/G500 PFD/MFD systems? Are there minor hickups from time to time or will it fail totally if it fails? How does it get repaired in the event of a failure? Simply pull the old one out and throw a replacement unit in?

We would like to operate an aircraft with no mx on site, so if it is too complicated to get things fixed fast (e.g. AH fails, pull it out, throw another one in, works pretty fast), we would stay away from it.
Does anyone have real world costs for maintenance of the stuff?

Lots of questions - thanks in advance for your replies

We've done 30 hours or so with a G600 so far and no problems. The main units other than the display come from the G1000 system, and the biggest failures in G1000 come from the AHRS. Repair is always by swapping out a box - held by Garmin Europe in Southampton, UK. Dealer needs to do the change as a special un-lock softeare card is needed to set the new unit up and check/amend software level. It's still much easier to service than the G1000.
