View Full Version : Finnair ground workers´ walkout continues

Finnair announced on Monday this week that in an outsourcing deal some 500 ground workers had been "sold" overnight to Barona, a personnel hire company without any previous experience in the field. Said workers walked out immediately and none of them reported to work on Tuesday morning. Finnair has been forced to cancel about 100 flights so far, mostly on domestic but also on some European routes and the walkout is still going on today. As if the recently ended pilots´ strike wasn´t bad enough for the reputation of the company. Unloaded luggage stranded at Helsinki at present: some 10000 pieces :hmm:

The former Finnair/Northport ground workers have now stopped strike action for two weeks, but fact is former permanent jobs are still about to turn into temporary ones:

The former Finnair ground workers who were outsourced to Barona now have put their grievances aside for the time being, but another group of ground workers staged a walkout yesterday at EFHK due to, you guessed it, having been outsourced:
