I have unfortunately started to get atypical migraine (so it appears) over the last couple of years. I don't really get the headaches but one of the main symptoms is dizziness but periodically rotational vertigo (which is the one the CAA don't like!!). I am having some trouble finding a way of controlling these symptoms that the CAA will accept.

If anyone has any experience of this or if you know of anyone that has experienced this can you please post or message me. I would be extremely grateful for any information anyone can provide.

Hi Headspinner,

About a year ago, I went down with severe rotational vertigo one evening. It carried on for about 2 months in the end, but all this time, I was attempting to seek treatment on it.

Of course, the first thing that went was my medical. However, after various doctors had diagnosed various things including labrynthitis, MS and Meniers' Disease!, I was checked into an ENT specialist, who performed a load of tests and found that in actual fact I was suffering from something called BPPV. Benign Paryoxysmal Positional Vertigo. The reason behind it was deemed to be that I had smacked my head (and I rememeber the incident well - not so much the aftermath!) and as a result, I'd dislodged the crystals in my inner ear on my left hand side.

About a week later, I was dragged back into hospital from some evil exercises, which stimulated a vertigo attack and thankfully since then, I have been clear.

It's probably worth getting a referal to an ENT specialist about the entire issue though - their knowledge is far greater than any house GP or anyone on here!

Incidently, I was off flying for another month beyond that, but then got my medical back and have been back on line since then.

Hope this helps somewhat,
