No, they did. (It was the year the Migs collided.)

My question is, does anyone know how I can get the photo of the Tremblers & 43 F3s with the Bear that was on the front of the Recce Journal??

PS - please post all derogatory Blue-Circle type replies in a separate topic. Or something. :p

Overstress,
I'd like a copy of that as well. What I can supply you with is a pic of the 111 & 43 F.3s (and a couple of Hawks) that I took from the Bear :D
Interested? Take me a day or so to find the negs & scan them in.

PS Our radar worked.

PPS If you were in the formation...did you see the Bulldog that scuttled out of the way (just) as we were somewhere near Oxford?

Have pics but no easy way of reproing them. No scanner, since still in the stone age!

Overstress,
Yes I was in the Bear, it was just under a 5hr flight from Dyagilevo AB (heavy bomber OCU thingy)near Ryazan.
Aircraft was from the 18th Red Banner Guard's Division, Capt was Maj Gen Soloviev
Intercepted by Danish Drakens, then the F.3s. I took several pix of the F.3s from the astrodome; after a bit of gesticulating the boys got the message and moved back so I could frame them between the prop discs. Couple of Hawks in the background. Also got numerous pix inside the aircraft. Emailed you.

Well now gentlemen. I think I can help .. I was sat in the backseat of the F3 in question (front seater is now , and was then, a very senior officer).

I have 12 billion transparencies of the (probably hardest working) sortie. I forget who said they were in the Bear at the time, but do you remmber us sitting in close (left wing) through the Alphas (Westcott, from memory?)?

I've got a couple of great shots as we overshot at Fairford with the Bear just over the threshold, amongst others.

I'm sure no-one else knows, but we (the formation) had an airprox that day - with a 747. If only he knew we were flying hdgs +/- 30 deg and to wihin 3k' of any cleared height !!

Funny this should come up as I was only looking at the photos last week.

As an aside - I was on 25 at the time but couldn't even begin to remember what sqn markings were on the jet ,,, to my knowledge we were the only ones involved escorting the 2 ac (the other was a May??) into IAT that year.

Email me at [email protected] if you want copies.

HiddenDragon:

Check your logbook for 21 Jul 93, it was a 43 and 111 F3, both in pukka Sqn Colours.

I think you have the wrong IAT in mind.

This was the First Ever landing of a Bear in the UK.

OutofTrim:

Thanks very much, a ground shot would be nice as I forgot to take one myself in all the excitement!

Especially as a very nice BA hostie was distracting me at the time! (***, if you are reading this, why did you marry that F/O??!)

I'll check when I get back from leave. There's every chance you're right and that it was '94 now that I think of it. Still, the photos are there if anyone's still interested.

I'm not sure why but I was under the vague impression that IAT was every two years then(??) which is why I assume it must've been me.

All,
As I've told O'stress in email, I'll search out the negs and scan them but it may take a day or two as they're in one of the many unpacked boxes from a house move.
Prob is we can't, as I understand it, post pix direct on here but only link to them. As I don't have a web site, I'll have to have a crack at setting one up.

Gainsey,
if you mail them to me, I shall upload them onto my server and post them here with whatever text you want to add. Mail me if you need more information on doing this?
