View Full Version : Original FRI

My understanding was that the second payment of the original FRI was to be paid on 1 Apr 02. Does anyone out there have any indication as to whether it is actually going to be paid on time or whether it will be late as last year. So far no-one at my detached unit has received a payslip for the second payment so my guess is that it will be late or at least in April's pay. And no I'm not entitled to any of the new fangled ARR FRI2.

I'm assuming that it'll appear on our April pay statements at the end of April?. .. .Or will we really be paid on the day they said we'd be paid?

If they pay on 30 Apr and Mr Brown lifts the ceiling on NI contributions, will we be hit for that too by failing to pay on time.. .. .Just a thought

You can put your claim in after April 1 and it should be paid a lot sooner than last year.

Do we have to claim? I though it was automatic.

Army chaps certainly need to claim again, even though the forms last year allowed you to put both years down.

Spoke to the Blunt Ones in Handbrake House today - it should be automatic but they 'think' that it'll appear in the April pay statement.

Thanks Beagle, I got a very similar answer from the very helpful blunties at Wyton when I spoke to them today. They did hold out some hope that it might be made as a miscellaneous payment before the end of April but my money is on it coming in the pay as you suggest.

Dear All.. .Received my April Pay statement today and imagine my surprise.....no FRI! There I was thinking that those lovely people in Glasgow and Wallop who constantly tell us that they our looking after our interests and constantly striving to improve the quality of service would be able to react with a twelve month lead in time but NO! Why is it that my admin is fine right up to the point that I have to rely upon an administrator?. .(Edited for spilling). . . . [ 27 March 2002, 21:26: Message edited by: Sloppy Link ]

Hey Guys an Gals, we've already built a reputation of being a bunch of wingers. Every year when we have had a payrise we always see it at the end of April, (or half of it in April and the other half in December). Last years bonus was one month late. There is no reason that I can think of why this one should also be a month late. I expect it will be in the bank on the 29th April (last working day of the month), if not then that might be the time to complain. let's not pre-emt the wingeing. And also remember those that that were not so fortunate. So keep smiling and have patience. As the Guinness advert says......Good things come to those who wait.

One would have thought that this would be the ideal thread for Admin Guru to demonstrate his self proclaimed prowess in matters of major adminstrative know how. I wonder why he's silent?

I don't give a stuff why Admin Guru is quiet. It's just a good thing.

I don't think that anyone is whingeing here - the query was whether 'the bonus will be paid on 1 Apr 02' meant that it would indeed be paid on 1 Apr 02 or whether it would appear on April's pay statements. It would appear that the latter is the case.

:) FRI was paid on April 1st, Air Force, STOP WHINGING!! nothing has changed in my 23 years in the mob, we are paid at the end of the month. When you leave you get your money and don't work a month, swings and roundabouts.
For all you army guys out there, unlucky at having to apply again, guess the RAF do get some things right then.............:p

Well the RN has included the £10k (nay £6k) FRI in this month's pay statement after I submitted the relevant form in Feb. It's strange how we never get it when we are supposed to isn't it? Although not as bad as last year which was months later than advertised, we should received this year's on the 1 Apr - but 30 days later we see it! C'est la vie!:p :p :p

Been reliable informed that Wiltshire's secret airbase is doing a pay run on 27th May, why is it different, thought we all got paid from Binsworth?

If I sign on for that extra 5 yrs, what happens to my gratuity?

For the Army chaps rumour has it that Glasgow entered the SNCO payments on Tuesday this week, and the officers today, Thursday. They should be at the bank 10 days later. If your RPO sent your paperwork to Glasgow, you should get paid. All FRI/ARR. Make sure your RPO have processed your paperwork to Glasgow. Aldergrove paybloke and his Sgt deserve a medal.

Jeep,

Thanks for that, sounds like you have military pay staff where you are that give a *%+, life with civilian pay staff......most annoying !
