I'm currently set to join BRNC in September which to be honest I can't wait for having loved my time with the RNR.

However I've also spent the past year training very hard for my particular sport up to quite a high level (sorry I'm not trying to brag <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> ) so I was wondering if anyone knew what the RN was like for supporting sports people who have already proven they have a small amount of talent?

Thanks

Although I never excelled at sport, games afternoons were a good excuse for me to get my head down at BRNC, you will do a lot at Dartmouth. My understanding is that the navy, or any service, will always support people who excell in sport. It was certainly the only way you could get leave when I was an OC! Enjoy BRNC.

Good PR for the mob so they will probably let you crack on - just look at the publicity Alex Coomber got for the crabs. You may have snags initially at BRNC if it clashes with major training evolutions but post BRNC there should be no problems.. .. .Why not ring them and ask - see what they say. Gives them a heads up as well.. .. .I remember getting special leave to play sport for the college after only being there a fortnight.

Having worked alongside the RN I can testify whole heartedly that they support anyone "who has already proven they have a small amount of talent".....or in some cases none at all.
