OK let's be honest, it's all over the place. Air France already have F-HPJA cn 033 whereas Emirates A6-EDF cn 007 hasn't been completed yet.

Are the numbers given as construction numbers really more akin to Boeing's order numbers? Anyone shed some light?

Thanks

Probably to do with confusing subsequent owners of the airframe. After all never buy the 'A' market of anything.:suspect:
Actually its more than likely made up of who, and when the order and delivery schedule was agreed.
BA has 787's on order and will not take anything prior to line 55.... (unless of course the price is right). :hmm:

Not familiar with A380 production but with all previous Airbus models the Manufacturers Serial Number (MSN) and line number are the same.
A Boeing serial number is typically 5 digits and has no correlation to the line number. Also Boeing use another alpha numeric sequence (eg WA001) for contractual and configuration control.

msn 7 is a refurb flight test aircraft so the refit started well after the first production aircraft when it was released from its flying program. msn 2 and 4 havent even started the refit program yet (should they find customers after the private buyer pulled out).
