All you younger blades thinking of taking the Queen's purse and staying on for a bit more service, think on!! When you come to the end game, ie your final tour, do not be surprised when you are posted miles away from your favoured part of the country. Sure enough, if you formally request a place and then don't get it you will get relocation expenses. Little recompense when what you really needed was to put down roots and make new friends before you actually retire. . .. .Plus, I read the latest bumpf on retention bonuses/PA/etc. It now appears that you will have to decide which way to jump before you find out what your terms of service will be. Sounds like a good one for the Industrial Tribunal!!. .. .Wasn't like this in the Woman's Volunteer Balloon Corps!

First the Blunty pedant bit - the Air Force isn't here to provide a Service to individuals. The Binnsworth desk officers' (who are aircrew)prime role is to put bums on seats - the interests of the individual come (albiet a close) second.. .. .Now your recourse. Your suggestion of Industrial Tribunal is a bum steer. They (actually called Employment Tribunals) do not have any legal jurisdiction over the Armed Forces in this regard. They can only currently hear cases relating to race/sex discrimination or harassment and equal pay (that is between men/women so airmen aircrew need not get excited here).. .. .You do have a 2 forms of recourse. If something is unjust then you can seek redress of complaint within the Service. If you still do not get any joy then you can take the case to Judicial Review. That is reviewed by a Judge outside of the Service, where you would have to prove that the policy was so unjust that it was unreasonable.. .. .Good luck.

Having read the second stack of bumf pusjed out from Binnsworth, I can't see how anyone can possibly be expected to make their 'elective statement' by tomorrow as there just isn't enough information yet about T&C. Similarly, the penalties for those on PAPS deciding to PVR aren't yet known. Neither are the real pension proposals known. As for stating that 'those SA with less than 5 years until NRD will only be invited to extend for Service manning reasons rather than to allow them to transfer to the more advantageous pension of PAPS'....that is a most interesting thing to say as it will undoubtedly cause anyone approaching 50 to pull the black and yellow early rather than late in order to find another employer who will reward experience..... .. .Anyone contemplating changing their TOS to an unknown new scheme must surely take some form of legal advice - unfortunately there is so much mistrust and suspicion around these days that no-one trusts Binnsworth not to insert a large bat up the fundament or to make empty promises.. .. .And what's happening about AIP for officers, by the way?? Weren't those who'd bothered to go to the trouble of obtaining professional qualifications, e.g. QWI, A2 QFI/QHI supposed to be in the line for AIP?
