Apologies if this has been asked before.

When I flew commercially my Class 1 medical expired at the end of the month I had the medical (End May & end Nov). This obviously contnued after I retired and the Class 2 expired at end of May.

This year I had my medical early on 16th January so I could renew my ATPL when it expired on 22/02/09.

However I was suprised that the AME put the expiry dates on the certificate not as end of July and end of January but as 16/July and 16/Jan.

Was this correct and if so when did the CAA change the expiry date from 6 & 12 months from the end of the month of the examination to exactly 6 and 12 months from the date of the examination?

Many thanks

Several options may apply.

Did you do your medical in the past before the old certificate expired? If so your old expiry date applied.

The FAA system lets the medical certificates run until the end of the month, are you mixing the 2 up?

Can not remember if the CAA system ever was as the FAA?
