View Full Version : Flying the C-17 - Any Impressions?

I am new to this forum.

Any C-17 drivers out there - USAF or RAF? I have seen pictures of the flight deck and it looks pretty advanced and comfortable.

Any comments related to flying this bird? Any examples of recent interesting (non-classified, of course...) missions flown? It's a beautiful aircraft!

Cheers

I don't do impressions, I'm a pilot.

Doc,

Speaking as a pilot, and remembering the same quote from the Wish I Hadn't Said That thread, it made me smile!

I am at Oshkosh at the moment,( see Private Flying, Na na na na na.) Had a close look at the 17, inside and out and spoken to the crew and seen the demonstration. Forget the FLA for all our sakes. There is no point in re-inventing the wheel. If the FLA is produced it will be no better, later, more expensive and we will not sell it beyond UK and maybe a little in EU. The Americans will not allow us to sell it to anyone they don`t like and they will cut us out of any deal with anyone the will allow it to be sold to.

Mike W.

Come on guys, lighten up.

I also read that thread and my comment was intended to be just a little tongue in cheek!

Obviously not ammused. Apologies all round.
