Has anyone seen the Sixty(R) Sqn DetGnome? His logbook has been found at a certain Wessex Sqn in NI and is very kindly being returned soon, however we would like to reunite him with his log book. He was last heard from leaving Oman in a C17 returning to the UK.
DetGnome is a 2' tall plastic garden gnome, sporting a fetching black and silver ensemble.

I have seen him very recently and he continues to travel in the spirit intended. There are several absences from his logbook that need to be addressed b4 his return. He even has a medal now, or he will have when Bigley gets his hand in his pocket!!

So glad to see he is alive and well. At least he and his log book are in the same theatre, just need to get them together some time!!!!

Glad to be keeping people happy! He was acquired at Waddington Airshow in 2000 by two steely eyed QHI's from 60 Sqn. The paint scheme was added later and since then he has been globe trotting. Highlights include:
Supersonic on a B1 across the pond. .South Africa in a US C17. .More time in a Merlin than most of 28 Sqn. .Oman with various Sqn's. .Some time near Afghanistan. .Now residing (apparently) in sunny NI!
Just like to see him back at some point for routine servicing and repairs!

He has Wessex (including being winched) and Puma in his book now, and he should have BN2a, Lynx & Gazelle before he go`s home. Photos have been added to his logbook, and he is in fine form. Now of course qualified for GSM (NI) but not "yet" XMG tick.
Nearly sent him on a Sea Queen SAR boy yesterday but wondered how you would ever get away from Boulmer!

Det Gnome has left RAF SHFNI and flown away with teeny weeny airways on a comp A (No not the Gnomes silly boy).
Perhaps a chap with a light blue beret may be able to provide an update?

Apparently he quite enjoyed his time on patrol with the Guards Regt Eagle VCPs.
