Police have confirmed that the pilot of the YAK-52 that crashed at Compton Abbas was Chris Philpott, many might remember him from his days as a Hercules Flight Engineer, especially when instructing on 242 OCU.

I remember Chris as a fellow Flight Eng at Lyneham. A sad loss.

Sorry - but to avoid misunderstanding is that also Flip Flop of SH fame?

The Lyneham based Chris Phillpot was known as Flip Flop. I don't know if he went rotary at any stage but he was a multi-engine flight engineer.

Late Call.....however, Chris's funeral is to be held at Swindon Cremetorium on Friday 17th @1130........any friends welcome.
Can Anybody please confirm if this is CP the ex SH pilot or CP the ex Herc Flight Engineer. Thanks

This was Chris Philpot the ex C130 Air Engineer. Condolences to the family, a fine man and a good engineer.
