Just heard on local news that eight members of 14 squadron (Aermacchis) have been stood down from flying duties due to lack of concentration brought about by low morale.

It is probably sensationalism that we have come to know and love from the media but I hear from a tangible source that things are pretty bad.

The ops side of the sqn (8 pilots) has been stood-down for a week(ish).

A recent, highly anticipated, announcement shed no light on their futures. The crewroom afterwards was miserable and cynical.

As a flight-safety precaution they were given some time off, away from the coal face.
When you're not sleeping, not eating and your relationships are under strain....you shouldn't be flying!

It is the job of the supervisors to monitor their troops. They have done just that.

There is no pilot strike nor has the sqn been grounded....thats press sensationalism.

The jets will be flying monday.
